Here is our new memory verse for this week:

John 14:27 (NLT) — 27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

The world doesn’t have the ability, authority or the power to give a person peace of mind and heart. You cannot give what you do not have. Only God can give true peace. The world can only offer a pause between wars or a lull before the storm. Let the stock market drop a few hundred points and the world begins to get nervous. Have ISIS start beheading people and taking over towns and the world trembles. When Donald Trump became president many people threatened to leave the country others gathered in groups and protested.

Peace treaties have been signed only to be broken. The reason the world gets nervous, trembles and protests is because it does not recognized the sovereignty of God. The world is unwilling to yield to God’s authority. For those who yield there lives to God, Jesus gives them the gift of peace. It is a peace that sort of by passes the brain and goes right to the heart. The bible says that it is hard to understand or explain this peace but those who have it know it.

Philippians 4:7 (NLT) — 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

When Daniel’s three friends were faced with being thrown into a flaming furnace for not bowing down to a gold statue they had the presence of mind to say this to the King.

Daniel 3:16–18 (NLT) — 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. 18 But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

Either way the boys knew that they would win. . If God rescued them great; they would live another day. If God didn’t rescue them, great they would now live with God for an eternity. That is the peace God gives. With God we are always in a win-win situation. God’s peace isn’t just for here, it is for all eternity. We know this because at the start of John 14 Jesus said he was going to prepare a place for us so that we would always be with him.

If you have Jesus you have his peace. Read our memory verse again so you can be sure. Read it again:)

Be Inspired Hilltop!

These scriptures over the past three weeks , from John have been life giving words for my daily walk. I have thought about things in a new way. Yesterday at the Community church service we heard preaching from the scripture in Matthew 22:29 where Jesus told the Sadduces “Your mistake is that you don’t know the scriptures and you don’t know the power of God.” I want to thank you Pastor Dan for teaching us the scriptures so that we can know them and the power of God. It is the only way to live a full life in this difficult world. I am so grateful for His Word!!
