May 10/Acts 3

What happened in this chapter happened because two guys believed that Jesus is alive!

Verse 1 > As I have gotten older I have realized that everything works better when I am regular:) I believe everything works better when we are also regular in our prayer. The newborn church disciplined themselves to pray. The disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray not how to pray but to pray. Apparently they learned their lesson well.

Verse 2 > I don’t think this was the first time Peter and John saw this man seeing he was there everyday and they went everyday to pray. In God’s kingdom there is a timing to everything. Apparently today was the time for this man to be healed. Peter and John were sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and he was leading them to heal today. We need to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Verse 3 > Sometimes we just don’t know what we need. This guy thought he needed money. We serve a great God so why not go for the greater thing like healing when we go to God. Ask the Holy what it is that you need.

Verse 4 > If we are going to receive something from the Word we must look at intently.

Verse 5 > Peter and John were used by the Holy Spirit to write some of the Word of God.  We should look at God’s word eagerly expecting something.

Verse 6 > When was the last time you used the name of Jesus in a public place? He works well in public.

Verse 7 > By faith Peter takes him by the hand and helped him up. Peter had the faith and God had the healing. What a wonderful combination.

Verse 8 > Whether we have been healed or not this would be a great way to come to Hilltop on a Sunday morning. We just might get heaven’s attention! I can hear the angels saying, “What’s going on at Hilltop?”

Verse 9 > It didn’t seem to bother him that people were looking at him. We need to get to that point with our worship. I believe it becomes more genuine then. Just a thought.

Verse 10 > We don’t seem to be as astounded by the things of God today.

Verse 11 > Oh that we would rush to the things of God to see what he would do.  Like to prayer, to his word, and too his church. Perhaps if we were a little more eager and a little more expectant the Father would do more through us. We are supposed to serve the Lord with joy and enthusiasm.

Deuteronomy 28:47–48 (NLT) — 47 If you do not serve the Lord your God with joy and enthusiasm for the abundant benefits you have received, 48 you will serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you. You will be left hungry, thirsty, naked, and lacking in everything. The Lord will put an iron yoke on your neck, oppressing you harshly until he has destroyed you.

Ephesians 6:7 (NLT) — 7 Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Verse 12 > We need to ask the Holy Spirit to let us see opportunities to speak about Jesus.

Verse 15 > We should all treat Jesus as if he is alive. That is what Peter and John. They acted as if Jesus was right there with them > Immanuel. Perhaps we would also treat people better.

Verse 16 > This was Peter’s faith. Boy had the Holy Spirit changed this man since Jesus’ trial! We all need the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Verse 20 > It sure is refreshing to be forgiven. It is also reassuring to know that Jesus is coming back.

Verse 22 > When I read my bible am I listening carefully? Do I read slowly so I can digest the words. Or am I here only for fast food?

Verse 23 > There are terrible consequences for not listening to the word of God.

Verse 26 > Are there any sinful ways that you haven’t given Jesus permission to turn you away from? It is a blessing not to be sinning.

We all need to start living like Jesus is alive! There is always hope in Jesus.

Be Inspired Hilltop!

  1. Mark Gundersen says

The message of the chapter is faith in a risen Jesus and knowing what was written about Jesus. This means studying the bible to know what was said in the new and old testament.

Philippians 1:3 “Everytime I think of you, I give thanks to my God.” I recently started reading the blog. Thank you for continuing the good work God has begun in you. The blog is a huge daily inspiration to me! Praise be to God!
