December 15/Revelation 11

Verse 1 > Go measure the temple God says. I believe this temple in Jerusalem is also a picture of the church. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit. The measurement shows ownership. When you buy a house you go and measure the windows for curtains and perhaps even some of the rooms for remodeling or putting in new cabinets and carpet. You don’t do that until the house is yours. The church is Jesus’ and he knows who are his. Those in the sanctuary worshiping are safe from losing their salvation.  Even after all the centuries of turmoil and persecution the Church still stands. We knew it would because Jesus said that the gates of hell would not be able to exterminate the Church. Are you part of the Church? If so God has your number and you will safely arrive in heaven. You may be beaten and bruised but then so was Jesus.

Matthew 16:18 (NLT) — 18 Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.

Verse 2 > there are always who will not enter in to worship Jesus and therefore they are not measured. God does not own them and they are not numbered with his children.

Verse 3 > God has never left the world without a witness for him. The tribulation period will be no different. Today we are witnesses for him. People who don’t receive Jesus will have no excuse. We have the power of the Holy Spirit.

Verses 4-6 > Who are these two prophets? Look at the two clues. They are going to prophecy for 1260 days which is 31/2 years. No rain for that period of time points to Elijah who prayed and no rain fell on Israel > James 5:17-18. Rivers turning to blood and plagues of every kind point to Moses and the plagues suffered by Egypt. They represent the Law and the Prophets which means the Word of God. We no that heaven and may vanish but the Word of God stands forever. So there will always be the witness of the word and the miracles that follow. People again will be without excuse.

Isaiah 40:8 (NLT) — 8 The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”

Mark 16:19–20 (NLT) — 19 When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 20 And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.

Luke 16:31 (NLT) — 31 “But Abraham said, ‘If they won’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they won’t be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’ ”

Verses 7-10 > these two prophets are killed. There is a Satanic Christmas Celebration. Things don’t look so good for the Church. But when Jesus died on the Cross things didn’t look so good for the Church either. Thank God for verses 11-12.

John 16:33 (NLT) — 33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Verses 11-12 > God always breathes life into dead situations if we will but trust and obey Him. If life doesn’t come here it will when we rise to heaven. If healing doesn’t come now it will when we rise to heaven. We always come out winners. They say a cat has nine lives; well the Church infinitely more because we really never die we just pass on from death to life.

John 11:26 (NLT) — 26 Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”

Verses 13-14 > Just when the outsiders thought things were swinging their way disaster hit them again. No matter how good things look and feel disaster is just around the corner for the unbeliever; just ask the Assyrians, Babylonians, Romans, Communists and Nazis.  Satan probably thought he had won when Jesus was on the cross but he was wrong! Without Jesus there is no hope.

Luke 17:26–27 (NLT) — 26 “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. 27 In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Verse 15 > Many have tried to take over this world from Nebuchadnezzar to Hitler but all have failed and all have died. This is the world of our eternal Lord Jesus Christ. This is his kingdom and he is the King!

Verse 16 > Only God is worthy of true worship.

Verse 17 > God’s kingdom is universal, everlasting and permanent. Monarchs, Cesears, Kings, Dictators, Presidents and Prime Ministers have all come and gone but not our God.

Verse 18 > God’s kingdom is decisive and righteous. He will judge the rebellious and reward the obedient.

Verse 19 > We get a glimpse into God’s sanctuary where we see the Ark of the Covenant which reminds us of God’s presence and his faithfulness to his people. The lightning, thunder, earthquake and hailstorm is God’s way of saying to all people, “Heaven Rules”.

If you know Jesus as Lord and Savior you are part of the Undying Church!

  1. Mark Gundersen says

The seventh seal brought a period of silence in heaven and the seventh trumpet brings a period of praise in heaven and an earthquake and hail on earth. It is the start of the third woe which is the bowl judgements. By this point the dye has been cast for most if not all people.
