December 20/Revelation 14

All the people in the world can be divided into two groups; those who receive Jesus and those who don’t. In this chapter we see two groups of people left after the tribulation period; those who have received Jesus and those who didn’t. Those who didn’t receive Jesus received the beast and the consequences that came with receiving the beast. These two groups of people all heard the same message and all that they do is noted by the Lord and their destiny will be determined by the Lord.

Revelation 14:6–7 (NLT) — 6 And I saw another angel flying through the sky, carrying the eternal Good News to proclaim to the people who belong to this world—to every nation, tribe, language, and people. 7 “Fear God,” he shouted. “Give glory to him. For the time has come when he will sit as judge. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all the springs of water.”

Revelation 14:14 (NLT) — 14 Then I saw a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was someone like the Son of Man. He had a gold crown on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand.

The world today has heard the same message to follow Jesus. Some follow Jesus and some don’t.

The group that followed Jesus are characterized by worshiping Christ in song, they have kept themselves pure, they follow Christ where ever he leads, they are truthful and maintain their integrity > Verses 1-5. All the decisions that we make in life define which group we are in. Verse 12 > they endure persecution patiently, they obey Christ’s commands, and they maintain their faith in Jesus. Verse 13 > they do good and will have rest in heaven from their hard work. Verses 15-16 > they are swept up into heaven.

The group that followed the beast are characterized by, verses 9-11 > their passionate immorality, they worship with their actions and their thinking. In other words they are all in for the beast and it shows. They are called by his name which I am going to speculate about > Unbelievers!  Verse 17-19 > Their destiny is terrible. See also verses 9-11.  Instead of singing they will be sighing. They are washed in their own blood > Verse 20.

The group that follows Jesus have been washed in the blood of the lamb; all their sins are forgiven. The 144,000 went out as witnesses during the tribulation and they all returned here in this chapter. God knows who are his and he loses no one!

John 10:28–29 (NLT) — 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.

When my son was about 3 or 4 I gave him the choice between a shiny nickel and a shiny dime. He took the nickel because it was bigger. At his age he didn’t know the value of money yet. Today given the choice of the Lamb(Jesus on the Cross) or the Beast(power, wealth, popularity,  and pleasure) most choose the beast. He looks more formidable, more powerful, more fun, and more valuable than the Lamb. Everybody needs to read this chapter before they make that decision.

You are given two choices regarding blood in this chapter. You are either washed in the blood of the lamb or will due in the bloodbath when the final battle occurs. The depth of the blood unfortunately suggests way to many people will make the wrong choice.
