James Allen, “Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad results; bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results. This is but saying that nothing can come from corn but corn, nothing from nettles but nettles. Men understand this law in the natural world, and work with it; but few understand it in the mental and moral world (though its operation there is just as simple and undeviating).”

Allen’s point is that we are what we think and that our lives move in the direction of our thoughts. If we think angry thoughts, we’ll be angry; if we think positive thoughts, we’ll be positive; if we think negative thoughts, we’ll be negative. Our minds are like the soil of the ground; whatever seed you plant and water will grow. So why not plant the seed of the word of God in your mind and water it by meditating on it and memorizing it. God’s word is truth and truth will move your life in the right direction. Think of all the foolish, ridiculous and destructive things that people  do because the seed of the word of God wasn’t planted in their minds and hearts. Jesus said:

John 8:37 (NLT) — 37 Yes, I realize that you are descendants of Abraham. And yet some of you are trying to kill me because there’s no room in your hearts for my message.

Our Memory Verse for the week:

Genesis 1:1 (NLT) — 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

If everyone believed this verse our world would be such a better place to live. God created means that everything had order and purpose. So many peoples lives are in disarray because they do not know this God of purpose. Other peoples lives are out of order and that is why they are in trouble with the law. Their lives are out of order because they do not know the God of order. Evolution is totally false because it teaches that we go from disorder to order; that we are constantly evolving for the better. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. All you have to do is look around and you will see that we are constantly getting worse.

God is good and all that he created is good and yet there is so much bad in the world because people do not believe in this good God who created the heavens and the earth. The future of this world of ours hinges on people believing our verse for the week.

Psalm 1:1–3 (NLT) — 1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2 But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
