Our memory verse for the week:

John 3:16 (NLT) — 16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

I am writing this blog about an hour before the Super Bowl starts. I was wondering what it costs to advertise during the game. I did some research online and found out that it costs approximately $4-5 million for a 30 second commercial and double that for a 60 second commercial. This would mean that approximately $359 million will be spent altogether for advertising during the game. Man is willing to spend millions for seconds. Man does not spend this money because he loves people. Man spends this money because he loves peoples money. These advertisers are only thinking about the here and now and boy are they willing to spend a bundle hoping to cash in here, now and a few months down the road.

For about 5hrs of entertainment those Americans that are not going to the game but who will be going to bars, motels, and friends houses to party will spend about $14.1 billion on food, decorations and team apparel!

What is the difference between God and man? > The way they think and the value they place on human life. Look at what God was willing to spend because he loves people. He doesn’t just love them for 30 or 60 seconds or even if they love him back. He was willing to risk all that he had so that people would be able to live with him for not 3-5 hours, a month, a year, or a few years; but for an eternity! God spends with eternity in view. Man spends with today in view.

So who really does love the world? Aren’t you glad that God has the view point he has?
