Romans 10:10 (NLT) — 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

I always ponder what I am going to say in this blog the day before I publish it. So Monday morning I got up, after sleeping in, well it was a late night with my granddaughters; remember mom and dad are on their way to Oman. Anyway I was thinking about what I might say for Tuesdays blog. I asked the Holy Spirit for some inspiration. Actually I do that for every days blog and then I got this idea. Doesn’t true believing usually lead to speaking?

For example the other day I went to Fleet Farm to look for a mechanics tool box to put in my man cave storeroom. I needed to organize my tools to make room for my new reloading press and all the accessories that go along with it like a brass tumbler, digital scale to measure the gun powder, a bullet puller in case I made a mistake, some allen wrenches, primer tray and few other necessities. Well what I was looking for was a bit more than I wanted to pay at Fleet Farm. Their prices were $250 and up. I was prepared to pay about $100.

So off I went to Home Depot. Well down their main isle in the front of the store I spied two seven drawer tool boxes with big caster wheels for easy moving and ball bearing rollers on the drawers for smooth action. The next thing my eagle eyes latched on to was the price > Regularly $259 now only $92! I’m thinking that can’t be right so I got a sales guy over and asked if it was true. He said Yes. And then he says, “The one has just a little dent on the top so you could probably get $15 off. I will go over and ask my manager.” So off we go to see the manager. The manager says, “Steve, not his real name, you have the authority to do that on your own.” Steve says, “I do?”. And she says, “Yes.”

So we go back over to the tool boxes and I am just grinning on the inside and outside:) Then Steve, not his real name says to me, “I wonder if I have the authority to give you $20 off?” I said, “Well lets see. Would you give me $20 off?” And Steve, not his real name, says, “Yes”. Now I am thanking Jesus! So I get a $259 mechanic tool box on big castor wheels with ball bearing drawers for $72!

I really believed in my heart that I got a good deal. In fact when I got home I said to Cleo, “I found the ‘mother lode’ today!” And for the next few days, because I believed I got a fantastic deal I was telling my son, my daughter-in-law, my guy friends and anyone else who would listen, and now you all about my deal!

I don’t believe that this is exclusive with me. When ever we believe in our hearts that we have found something really special like a good burger joint, a savory recipe, a quaint little specialty shop, or a place that just gives good service, we tell others about it.

Our verse for the week talks about believing and speaking. Do you believe in your heart that in Jesus you have found the ‘mother lode’? John the Baptist did:

John 1:29–30 (NLT) — 29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 He is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘A man is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’

Andrew did:

John 1:41 (NLT) — 41 Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”).

Be Inspired Hilltop!

P.S. My man cave storeroom is now organized:)

  1. That’s an awesome analogy for the great(est) deal we have in Christ! For me, the only time I get excited about shopping is when I get more for less. This is also true when we believe in Jesus. He gives us so much more than what we even asked for free of charge! By the way, I’m all about organizing! Thanks for sharing the story of your exciting purchase with Steve…not his real name! 😉
