Romans 10:10 (NLT) — 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

March Madness is upon us! People that follow college basketball and even those who don’t eagerly look forward to this time of year when 62 major college teams will battle it out to see who will be king of college basket ball for the coming year. Even our Minnesota Golden Gophers made it into the tournament this year. The 62 teams are divided up into four regions; west, south, east and Midwest. Many of the teams who were unsure of making it to the tournament looked forward with eager anticipation to see if they would be chosen. I have a brother -n -law who with a group of his friends eagerly look forward to this time of year. They will have made reservations in advance in one of the regions and fly there for the weekend to take in all the games. They eagerly look forward to the comradery, burgers, fries, pizza and beer. Many people will eagerly watch to see if a no. 16 seed will be able to defeat a no.1 seed. And the cities that are hosting these games eagerly looked forward to all the money that would be spent in their cities.

Most people that word Monday through Friday eagerly look forward to Friday. It is the last day of the work week, it is usually a little more laid back of a day, and some places have casual dress on that day.

Some people have a favorite television program that they eagerly look forward to each week. Others eagerly look for the UPS guy if they are expecting some cool thing that they have ordered. Others eagerly look forward to bed time because they are exhausted. Children eagerly look forward to opening presents at Christmas time.

I eagerly look forward to playing with my granddaughters and they eagerly look forward to grandpa coming. If they know that I am coming they will be looking out the picture window for me. I also eagerly look forward to Monday and Wednesday night when I can go to the indoor gun range and shoot my handguns.

Cleo is eagerly looking forward to a mini class reunion to be held in Fargo this June.

Did anyone spot the word that I eagerly used quite often today in this blog? It was the word that caught my eye in the following verse that I read yesterday:

John 6:21 (NLT) — 21 Then they were eager to let him in the boat, and immediately they arrived at their destination!

It was in the midst of a storm that the disciples were eager to let Jesus into their boat. You don’t have to wait for a storm to eagerly desire Jesus. You don’t have to wait for Friday to eagerly desire Jesus. According to our memory verse if we believe and declare Jesus is eager to save. Why not pray for those that you know that don’t know Jesus that the Holy Spirit would cause them to be eager to invite Jesus into their boat (life); even if it does take a storm.

If someone were to describe how you look forward each day to having Jesus in your life would they use the word ‘eager’. Basketball, burgers, beers, bedtime, Friday’s, reunions, packages, television, gun ranges, and granddaughters shouldn’t get all of our eagerness. Why not reserve some of it for Jesus and for memorizing his word. After all no one provides an eternity for you like Jesus.

Psalm 119:36 (NLT) — 36 Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money!

Philippians 3:20 (NLT) — 20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.

1 John 3:3 (NLT) — 3 And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.

Be Inspired Hilltop!
