Our memory verse for the week:

Romans 10:9 (NLT) — 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

People usually openly declare what is on their mind. When Donald Trump was elected president many Hollywood stars openly declared their disdain for him. Some said they would leave the country. In the Fergus Journal some openly declared by writing letters to the editor that we should do away with the electoral college because after all Hillary did have more votes.

Their are some people in Fergus Falls that have openly declared that we should do away with two of the stoplights in the middle of downtown. My granddaughter Vesper openly declared to grandma Cleo that, “Grandpa is funny.”

Openly declaring something is a way to get people’s attention and it is also a way to bring about change. When people openly declared that we needed a stoplight out by the Walmart entrance, after a couple of people had been killed out there, my dad included, it got the attention of the city planners and now we have a stop light there. I am sure it has saved more lives.

Why not openly declare in some way shape or form that Jesus is Lord of your life. It may get someone’s attention and who knows you might get into a conversation and lead that person to Jesus; thereby saving their life. Jesus said:

John 12:32 (NLT) — 32 And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.”

Why not lift up his name by declaring that he is Lord of your life?

It requires both declaration and faith (i.e. belief in your heart) for salvation to occur. There is a lot of declaration that occurs without belief.
