Romans 10:9 (NLT) — 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

I really like simple. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a favorite with kids because they are simple to make; most anyone can do it. I like three piece puzzles. They are simple and even a child can put them together. Single shot 22 rifles are good for beginning shooters and there are simple. I was really good at math when it was simple, like one plus one equals two. When it got more complicated with x’s, y’s and z’s I got lost. I guess that is why they start children out with one plus one. I enjoy a simple vanilla ice cream cone. Baskin Robbins with its 50 or so flavors and toppings just complicated things for me. It is too many choices even for children to make.

I guess simplicity is what I really like about Christianity. There really isn’t anything complicated about it. To be saved from your sin you don’t have to attend so many church meetings, or read a certain amount of scripture, or be able to name all of Jesus’ disciples. You don’t have to be good for a certain length of time before you can be saved. You don’t have to give up anything for Lent or recite the Lord’s prayer. Those are all good things however if you will just believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and you will be saved. Its simple. So simple that even I and a child can understand it. Thank you Jesus for not making it complicated. I like simple.

John 6:29 (NLT) — 29 Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”

Acts 16:30–31 (NLT) — 30 Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”

  1. During the Christmas season you see plenty of home decor with the word BELIEVE. Commercialism points to the magic of Santa Claus and all that surrounds him. There is nothing magical that happens in the heart when we believe things that are not true…even if they appear fun and harmless. But, there is something miraculous that happens in the heart when we BELIEVE what is true…JESUS and all that surrounds him! Santa Claus unsaved…Jesus saved. Pretty simple.
