Romans 10:9 (NLT) — 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Have you ever noticed that most of the time there is not much of a barrier between us and harm. For instance when I ride my motorcycle the helmet that I wear isn’t much more than a quarter inch thick and yet when I went down doing 70mph the side of my helmet was mostly sheared off but my head was thoroughly protected! Although some might be quick to point out that my brain was a bit damaged:)

The temperature outside can drop to a -50 degree wind chill and yet our 4-6inch walls protect us from harm. In fact the windows on our houses are less than an inch thick and some old single window panes are less than 1/4 of an inch.

In science class we wore rubber gloves so as not to get acid on our hands. Well those gloves were only a few millimeters thick.

Look at how a very thin layer of sunscreen protects us from being fried by the sun.

We go to the zoo to look at animals and those fences aren’t that thick and yet they protect us from being attacked. I was at the Reptile Gardens in Rapid City a couple of years ago looking at the poisonous snakes. What separated me from the snakes was a cage made out of glass which to me didn’t look that thick.

Our human skin, which is the largest organ in our body, protects our insides from outside harm like water, wind, dust, sun, diseases, etc.. And yet it is only .o2mm at its thinnest on our eyelids and 1.5mm at its thickest on the bottom of our feet and the palms of our hands.

So what does all of this have to do with our memory verse. Well according to our verse there isn’t much of a barrier protecting us from eternal death in hell. In fact all that is protecting us is one little two letter word > If.

That doesn’t look like much protection and yet our verse says that If I declare with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and If I believe in my heart that God raised him from the dead I’m saved, I’m protected from eternal death in hell by that little barrier!

Are you protected by the ‘IF‘? IF you have that protection then:
