John 14:2 (NLT) — 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?

When Jesus said, “There is more than enough room.”; I couldn’t help but think that when he was born there was no room for him in the Inn. In fact most of the world today has trouble making room for Jesus in their lives. Most people haven’t made room in their hearts for Jesus when it come to receiving his salvation. Others can’t make room for him in their everyday schedule because it is just too full. Sundays come and go and the day doesn’t find a majority of people who have made room on this day to worship Jesus.

Our schools have no room in their curriculum for the teachings of Jesus. Sports has taken the room on Sundays and Wednesday nights that used to be reserved for our children to go and worship. There is no room for Jesus in most people’s budgets. Retailers make no room for Jesus at Christmas and Easter even though those days wouldn’t exist without Jesus. The Supreme Court of our United States makes no room for Jesus’ input when they make their decisions. We see signs like, ‘This space reserved for Sprint Customers’. Perhaps we need to put up sign our lives that say, ‘This space reserved for Jesus.’

And yet with all of the crowding out that we do when it comes to Jesus he doesn’t get mad or even, he just keeps making room for us. When we mess up he has room for us. When we haven’t been his best representatives he still has room for us. When we have failed him miserably he still has room for us. You will not see Jesus hanging out a ‘No Vacancy’ sign. In his grace, mercy and kindness he always has room. In fact he says to everyone who will listen:

Matthew 11:28 (NLT) — 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

Do you realize that all the nastiness in the world from sex trafficking to gossip is because no room has been made in people’s lives for Jesus.

John 8:37 (NLT) — 37 … some of you are trying to kill me because there’s no room in your hearts for my message.

What excuse do you have for not making room for Jesus in your life? The most beneficial thing that you can do for yourself and others is to make room for Jesus. Will you?

Jesus would prefere to make room in heaven but if people do not make room for him, he will make room in he’ll since he is door to one and holds the keys to the other.
