John 14:3 (NLT) — 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

Just to refresh your memory this verse follows our last two memory verses. Here they are:

John 14:1 (NLT) — 1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.

John 14:2 (NLT) — 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?

When our rooms are ready Jesus will come and get us. This reminds of the time Cleo and I were checking into a motel where we had reserved a room. They told us it would be a little while before we could go to the room because it wasn’t quite ready yet. Well we didn’t mind waiting because we wanted a clean room, with clean sheets, pillow cases and towels, a full Kleenex box, shampoo and conditioner, a vacuumed carpet, air conditioning and television that worked. We didn’t want to settle for a half done room. When we checked into the room it was worth the wait.

Another time I took my van in to have the brakes fixed and the tires to be replaced. This particular place had a waiting room with plush couches, television, coffee, magazines and internet capabilities. They told me that someone would come and get me when the van was ready. It took a couple of hours before that person came. I was comfortable but not as comfortable as I would have been in my own home; however it didn’t matter to me how long it took  because the safe keeping of my life depended on good brakes and good tires being installed correctly. So how ever long it took to ensure my safety was worth the wait.

We are going to be living in these rooms that Jesus is preparing for us for an eternity. Don’t you want them to be perfectly suited to our eternal needs? Jesus knows each one of us inside and out so he knows what will best suit us and what will give us the most satisfaction and pleasure. Let your imagination run wild as to what your room will be like. Because of the creativity of Jesus I bet it will be a thousand time better than you could have ever imagined.

Our life right now is like a waiting room. We have a degree of comfort but not like we will have when Jesus tells us our room is done. I believe it will be worth the wait.

1 Corinthians 2:9 (NLT) — 9 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
