John 14:6 (NLT) — 6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

When I turned 13, and each summer thereafter until I was 17, my parents would usually send me to my grandparents and uncles farms to work for the summer. I gained good work experience but I wasn’t treated very kindly by my relatives and the days were long and the work was hard. While all my friends were playing summer baseball and working at jobs they got paid for I was slaving away on the farm. What kept me going was the fact that summer would come to an end and I would be going home!

I believe our memory verse is what kept the disciples living for Jesus. Even though it wouldn’t be easy and there would be many difficulties they knew that they were on their way home. This is what Jesus wants to remember when life gets difficult and at times almost unbearable. We are on our way home. Let this be a great encouragement to you as you live today and everyday for Jesus. Let the thought that you are going home lift you out of any pit of despair that you might have sunk into. As Dr. James Gray said, “Who could mind the journey when the road leads home?”

This assurance of going home encouraged Jesus >

Hebrews 12:2 (NLT) — 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

The Apostle Paul kept this truth in mind >

Romans 8:18 (NLT) — 18 Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.

Abraham let his mind dwell on this truth >

Hebrews 11:10 (NLT) — 10 Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.

The people of faith that have gone on before us had this truth in mind >

Hebrews 11:16 (NLT) — 16 But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

Remember the road you are on today leads Home:)
