Isaiah 26:3 (NLT) — 3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Most of us are familiar with the meaning of DIY, which stands for ‘do it yourself’. Doing things yourself is a way to save money. That is why places like Home Depot, Fleet Farm, Menards and Lowe’s became popular. Most of these places even have classes that teach you how to paint, lay tile, replace plumbing fixtures etc. If you can do it yourself you don’t have to pay someone else to do it.

Other people say that if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. In the age we live in it is easy to carry over the DIY mindset into Christianity. That is why some people are still trying to work there way into heaven. They believe they must do it themselves. They don’t have perfect peace because they never know if they have done enough.

In our memory verse God says if we will trust him and fix our thoughts on him He will keep us in perfect peace. Did you catch that? We do not have to make our own peace God makes it for us. If we try to make our own peace it will not be perfect because we are not perfect. It is like some of our DIY projects. We did the project but it probably wasn’t as good as a trained, experienced professional could have done. God is perfect and is better than a trained, experienced professional; so he is the only one that can give perfect peace. A peace without one shred of anxiety. A total calm in the midst of any storm.  A hope in a seemingly hopeless situation. A mindset that has us preparing not for the worst but for the best in every situation. Our thoughts are fixed on God and we know that he works all things together for good to those that love him and called according to his purpose. (See Romans 8:28)

So I would say to you today: DDIY! Don’t Do it Yourself. Trust God. Fix your thoughts on Him and let him keep you perfect peace.
