Isaiah 53:5 (NLT) — 5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

Amanda Krause was always a great inspiration to me. As you know she was confined to a wheel chair, and had many operations. She had a titanium rod put in her back just so she could sit up straight and not droop over. The last couple of years she had a tracheotomy so she could keep breathing. Her speech was slurred and her eyesight was failing. And many more bodily issues too numerous to mention.

She was always upbeat and never let her condition keep her from enjoying life. She had a strong faith in Jesus and wasn’t afraid to speak to anyone of her friend Jesus.

I say she was an inspiration because when I would find myself complaining that I had to maintain my mother’s home, mow her lawn, and till her garden I would remember Amanda. Amanda would have cheerfully done all those things if her body would have let her. So now even though Amanda has gone on to heaven I still think of her and I thank the Lord each day that I can walk, use my arms and legs, and that I get to maintain mom’s property!

In fact those thoughts of Amanda and the help of the Holy Spirit have turned me into a grateful person. I find myself each day thanking the Lord for the day he has given me and everything that goes along with that day. I am blessed.

Jesus is our Amanda if you will. If you think you are having a bad day, a day when nothing seems to go right or a day when you don’t get what you want or a day when you don’t like what you have to do or a day when you feel taken advantage of; think about our memory verse and the kind of day Jesus was having just for us. He was pierced, crushed, beaten and whipped. That should help you to perk up and at least put a little bit of a smile on your face and a thank you on your lips:)

Hebrews 12:4 (NLT) — 4 After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.

Psalm 118:24 (NLT) — 24 This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Be Inspired Hilltop!

  1. Even though I only knew Amanda for those few short weeks during our Purple Book Study, I miss her presence. When she had something to say I was all ears because I knew I would learn from her. Thanks for reminding me that I still have much to learn from her! I am blessed as well.
