Matthew 6:33 (NLT) — 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

A few days ago I commented on the fact that worry causes you to forget what you are worth. We go to college to get a degree to make ourselves seem more valuable in the job market. We improve our homes to make them more valuable. We wear certain clothes, put on the right amount of make-up, and drive newer cars all to come across to people that we are valuable.

I feel sorry for the young girls in our country that have been duped into thinking that they will be more valuable if they look somewhat like the latest supermodels. Even in the area of sports if you have watched high school girls volley ball they were these very short and very tight fitting shorts because they say it helps them to play better. However when you watch guys volley ball they don’t wear the tight shorts and they seem to do quite well. In the back of their minds I really believe the girls do it because it makes them seem more valuable.

One of the reasons so many in born babies are at risk in our society is that they haven’t made themselves valuable yet. What a shame. According to Minnesota Concerned Citizens for Life, 10,000 babies were about in 2016 in Minnesota. What a shame that people didn’t see these unborn little ones as God sees them. Many handicapped and elderly people turn to euthanasia because they and parts of society don’t deem them valuable. Here is another ‘what a shame’ moment.

The Holocaust happened because Jewish human beings weren’t valued. You would have thought that value and murder would be so closely linked.

The cool thing about Christianity is that we can’t and don’t have to do anything to make ourselves more valuable to God. No pressure. Just being created in his image makes us valuable. The blood that Jesus shed for us makes us valuable. That’s it. You are valuable just the way you are. If everybody got that think of the all the stress and worry that would be drained out of our world. Think of all the murder that would be stopped. Now that you know you are valuable just be available for God to use you to make Jesus Famous. O and hang out with people who know the value of being created in the image of God.

On to the things that worry will do to us.

Matthew 6:28–31 (NLT) — 28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’

Jesus is saying that worry will cause us to forget the promises of God. If you are a worrier than you missed the six most important words in the above verses. Can you see what they are? They are in verse 30. “He will certainly care for you.” Maybe you need to repeat them over and over a few times until they are permanently tattooed in your mind. Dwell particularly on the word certainly. Here are some synonyms of certainly > unquestionably · surely · assuredly · definitely · beyond/without question · without doubt · indubitably · undeniably · irrefutably · indisputably · obviously · plainly · clearly · unmistakably · undisputedly · undoubtedly · for sure

If God cares for lilies and wildflowers he will certainly take care of you. That’s what Jesus said. That is reality. Do you believe Him?
