Here is our new memory verse for the week:

Romans 8:28 (NLT) — 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Notice that Paul didn’t say, “I want you to know or I hope you know; instead he said, “we know” that God is working everything out in our lives for good. Why does Paul think that we know this? I believe it is because earlier in this chapter he said that when we yield our lives to Jesus we get the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. And on of the first things that Holy Spirit does is let our spirit know that we are God’s kids. God is our heavenly Father whom we can call ‘abba’ or daddy!

Romans 8:15–16 (NLT) — 15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.

We are not fearful slaves but children of God. We know that God is good. We know that God loves us because he sent Jesus to die for us. So what good loving Father doesn’t work out everything for his children’s good? We may have to go through times of suffering because we are living for Jesus but we don’t have to despair, worry or fret because we know that Daddy will work it all out for our good.

And that is why Paul said, “We know.” Now you know. Now you can relax and let Daddy work.

Just look at what Jesus went through so that everything would work out for Jesus who God definitely loved. Jesus knew that God was with him through all of his trials and suffering. That knowledge sustained him.

Glad you are back, Mark. I’ve missed your postings.
