Philippians 4:7 (NLT) — 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

The word ‘then’ indicates that we must look at the previous verse to find out why we will experience God’s peace. And that verse was our memory verse for last week”

Philippians 4:6 (NLT) — 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Our Lord is saying to us through the scriptures that real peace can be experienced by replacing worry with praying to God and thanking him for all he has done in our lives. If we want to experience real peace, the absence of anxiety and doubt, we can’t just thank God for all he has done and leave out the praying part. And we can’t just pray and leave out the thanking part. Both of these parts are essential for us to experience real peace.

It is just like following a baking recipe. If you leave out any of the ingredients you will not experience the full enjoyable taste of the cookie that you were going to make. The taste might come close depending on which ingredient you left out, but it still will not be the full taste of the cookie.

If you leave out the prayer or leave out the thank you, you may experience some peace but it will not be the eternal God of the bible’s peace. Any other peace is just part time. Part of the time you will have peace but part of the time you won’t. God’s peace is full time 24/7. Any other peace is just temporary relief between good times and bad times. God’s peace lasts through all the times any time.  Any other peace is just a pause between life’s wars. God’s peace gets you through the wars intact and of sound mind.

A mind at rest is a wonderful thing. A mind at rest is able to think clearly and lead you right actions. The body goes where the mind has already been. A mind at rest is a body at rest. A mind at rest is a relationship in unity. A mind at rest is a family living in oneness, a city in friendship, a state in agreement, a nation in harmony.

Practice verse 6 and the you will experience verse 7.

  1. Very good message and practice I will. I usually take a few notes everyday when I finish reading and jot down what really spoke to me. Today it was pretty much the whole thing. I think I need to go back to the verse last week. My cookies seem to be missing something:(
