Merry Christmas. I pray you all are having a joyous time as you celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. It truly is a wonderful time of the year. I am posting the main points of Pastor Jeremy’s sermon that he gave yesterday. I thought is was very truthful and encouraging. If you think upon these thoughts you will have even more to celebrate this day. His theme was “Christmas means:

Isaiah 9:1–7 (NLT) — 1 Nevertheless, that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. The land of Zebulun and Naphtali will be humbled, but there will be a time in the future when Galilee of the Gentiles, which lies along the road that runs between the Jordan and the sea, will be filled with glory. 2 The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. 3 You will enlarge the nation of Israel, and its people will rejoice. They will rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest and like warriors dividing the plunder. 4 For you will break the yoke of their slavery and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders. You will break the oppressor’s rod, just as you did when you destroyed the army of Midian. 5 The boots of the warrior and the uniforms bloodstained by war will all be burned. They will be fuel for the fire. 6 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen.

Your pain won’t last forever. Vs:1

For the Christ follower even is all of this life is painful he or she knows that it will not carry into eternity. For those who don’t follow Christ there pain will intensify in eternity.

Your life has purpose. Vs:2

The Christ follower lives in the light of the Lord and can see what true life is all about. Those who don’t follow Christ have no clue what life is about and they are always searching for purpose and direction but never finding anything that totally satisfies.

You can be truly happy. Vs:3

The Christ follower knows that all things work together for good to those you love God and are called according to his purpose. Therefore even in the midst of difficulty contentment, joy and peace rule on the inside. Those who don’t know Jesus never experience true contentment, joy and peace. They never know how things are going to turn out.

You can be truly free. Vs:4

The Christ follower is the freest person on earth because Jesus has free him and her from sin. The non-Christ follower is a slave to sin.

All of this because of verses 6-7. Aren’t you glad you are a Christ Follower?
