Ephesians 2:8–9 (NLT) — 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Once God gives us the faith to place in Jesus He expects us to grow that faith. It is our faith that keeps us living for Jesus. It is our faith that obtains the promises of God. It is our faith that gets tested. It is our faith that always wins the day for us. The bible says that faith comes by hearing the word of God. The more we hear and the more we obey the stronger our faith will be. Let’s take the last three days of this week and look back on the verses that we have memorized and let this looking back help us to realize how much our faith has grown this year and how much our knowledge of God has increased.

Genesis 1:1 (NLT) — 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

John 1:1 (NLT) — 1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 3:16 (NLT) — 16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 3:23 (NLT) — 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Romans 6:23 (NLT) — 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8 (NLT) — 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Romans 10:9 (NLT) — 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:10 (NLT) — 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT) — 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

Joshua 1:8 (NLT) — 8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

Psalm 119:11 (NLT) — 11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Deuteronomy 6:6 (NLT) — 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today.

Deuteronomy 6:7 (NLT) — 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.

Hebrews 4:12 (NLT) — 12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Look at all these faith builders:)

  1. Mary Anne Frank says:

On Christmas Day my daughters and I were making lefse. Elysia asked each of us to share what has been God’s greatest blessing in our life this past year. As each one shared what God has done for them I was once again struck by the faithfulness of God in our lives when we place our faith in Him. There is no greater blessing for a parent than to witness our children walking in faith. Only God can do that in each of their lives. I can only give them over to Him trusting that He will do the work. He alone is faithful. I am blessed.

  2. Thanks again Pastor Dan for your time and commitment in sharing these memory verses with us all year. They have been inspiring, encouraging and faith building.

    Thanks again and God Bless,
    Toni

  3. It was good to look back to the beginning of our journey together. We’ve studied these verses well and learned much about their context through a good, good teacher. Thank you Pastor Dan! Being the detailed person that I am, was our third memory verse John 1:14 missed? Maybe I recorded it wrong.
