Matthew 1:21 (NLT) — 21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

Sometimes I will speak a word that I can’t carry through on. One day I told Cleo that I would stop by Fall Bakery and pick up some wheat bread for her but when I went in they told me that they were out of wheat bread. I couldn’t carry through on that word. Once I told my mom that I would mow her grass that afternoon but I never got there because I had to go visit a parishioner who had been taken by ambulance to a hospital in Fargo. I told a friend that I would come over and his plumbing problem but I found out is was bigger problem than I could handle.

I would imagine that all of you reading this blog have had similar experiences. You said you would do something but you couldn’t follow through because something else interfered.

I am glad that that doesn’t happen with Father God. He said that he would send his son Jesus to save us from our sins and even though there was much opposition to his words God did what he said he would do. God always does what he says he will do. This gives me great confidence that when I find a promise in the bible and I meet the conditions of that promise I know that God will give me what he promised. The bible says that God watches over his word to see that it is carried out.

Jeremiah 1:12 (ESV) — 12 Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”

Isaiah 55:10–11 (NLT) — 10 “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. 11 It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

Isaiah 46:10 (NLT) — 10 Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.

Perhaps you are claiming a certain promise from God and you haven’t seen that promise fulfilled yet. Well keep hanging on to it. Don’t let go. Don’t let unbelief creep into your mind. God is watching over that promise and at just the right time you will receive it. Jesus was promised to come many years before he came but just at the right time he was born. God is birthing that promise he made to you and he has chosen the delivery time so be patient and continue trusting.

Galatians 4:4 (NLT) — 4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law.

Romans 5:6 (NLT) — 6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.

Ephesians 1:10 (NLT) — 10 And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth.

1 Peter 5:6 (NLT) — 6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
