1 Timothy 1:3 (NLT) — 3 When I left for Macedonia, I urged you to stay there in Ephesus and stop those whose teaching is contrary to the truth.

Why am I here? What is my purpose? Us Christian doesn’t have to ask those questions because Paul answered that question for us in this verse. Just like Timothy was put in Ephesus I believe we have been put where we are today to bring a stop to the lies circulating around us. We do this by bringing the truth of God’s Word.

This gives purpose to a seemingly meaningless, mundane job. People where we work need to hear the truth. So if someone asks you what you do for a living yo can tell them where you work and what you do but your main job there is to make sure that people hear the truth.

This gives purpose to a mom who may wonder why she is confined to her home raising children. Her perspective may change when she realizes that she has the responsibility of raising her children to know the truth. After all isn’t the home the best place to be raised on the truth? So if someone asks what you are doing you can say that I am a stay at home mom raising ‘truth tellers’. That should give you an opportunity to tell people about Jesus.

We need to know the truth and speak the truth so > Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Ephesians 4:14

People are tricked every day into thinking that somehow if they are good enough or if their good deeds out weigh the bad the they will make it to heaven. Others are fooled into thinking that there is no afterlife. Their motto is ‘eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die’.  Many believe there is no hell.

Many others believe they would be happy if they had a little more money, a few more things, a big house in a better neighborhood, a four day work week, free health care, a better spouse, more education and all the chocolate they can eat:)

There are a lot of people who believe that humans are basically good and with a little more education and rehabilitation our world would be a better place to live.

Some believe that gun control would cut down on violent killings. Many thought prohibition was the answer only to find out that it gave rise to organized crime. All gun control will do is give rise to more crime.

The truth to all of the above?

John 14:6 (NLT) — 6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

John 8:31 (NLT) — 31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.

John 8:32 (NLT) — 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Truth is a person, Jesus Christ. When you know the person you will begin to know the truth. The truth is that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. Once people realize that they are sinners and that Jesus is the remedy and they, turn to Jesus they will begin to know the truth and then they will be set free from the lies that they have been living. Everything that heart of a person is truly longing for is found in Jesus. Once they find Jesus they will find true life. But they need to hear the truth.

Colossians 2:3 (NLT) — 3 In him(Jesus) lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

John 10:10 (NLT) — 10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

We are here to be ‘Truth Tellers’, speak away!
