Colossians 4:7–8 (NLT) — 7 Tychicus will give you a full report about how I am getting along. He is a beloved brother and faithful helper who serves with me in the Lord’s work. 8 I have sent him to you for this very purpose—to let you know how we are doing and to encourage you.

The NFL football play draft is coming up at the end of April. There are certain qualities in a player that will catch the eye of the General Manager of the Indianapolis Colts. He looks to see if the player is difference maker. In other words can he make a difference in the outcome of the game. He is looking for someone who has a good locker room presence. In other words is he a team player and does he get along well with his team mates. He is looking for someone of good moral character. In other words will he represent well the Indianapolis Colts on and off the field.

Apparently Tychicus had qualities that caught the eye of the Holy Spirit so much so that the Holy Spirit had his name mentioned in scripture! Here are the qualities:

Beloved brother = Tychicus had a good locker room presence. He was team player and he got along well with team mates; other brothers and sisters in Christ.

Faithful Helper = Tychicus was a difference maker. While others talked a good game of lending a helping hand Tychicus actually lent a helping hand.

Full Report = Tychicus could be trusted to represent the name of Christ well whether he was with the Apostle Paul or away from him.

I pray that our lifestyle, like Tychicus, is such that we will all catch the eye of the Holy Spirit:)

Ephesians 4:30 (NLT) — 30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.

Matthew 25:21 (NLT) — 21 “The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’
