Numbers 24:1 (NLT) — 1 By now Balaam realized that the Lord was determined to bless Israel,

Yes I got a little ahead of the scheduled reading by a chapter but this verse caught my eyesight and it thrilled me to no end. King Balak had called upon Balaam to curse Israel and if he would do that Balak promised that he would make Balaam  a very wealthy man. So with that incentive driving him Balaam set out to curse Israel but God wouldn’t let Him because God was determined to bless Israel.

Determined = joyously happy, absolutely thrilled beyond all understanding.

The Lord was absolutely thrilled to bless Israel and I think that is beyond our understanding because all we have seen so far in scripture was a people that constantly grumbled and complained when things weren’t going their way. Even with all the miracles they saw they still managed to test God’s patience and yet the scriptures say that God was determined to bless his people. God is not a man that he should change his mind. When God sets out to do something he does it regardless of what we think he should do. I wouldn’t have been so eager to bless Israel.

Have you, have I, come to the realization that God wants to bless you and me even though you or I may have failed to uphold his holiness on numerous occasions? Do you, do I, believe with all our hearts that God wants to bless you? If we don’t we may be missing out on some blessings because of our lack of faith. This is what happened to the people of Nazareth when Jesus came to town.

Matthew 13:58 (NLT) — 58 And so he did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief.

Jesus wanted to bless them but they wouldn’t believe. I believe that we would have more up days than down days if we really believe that God wants to bless us. In anticipation we would be looking for that blessing throughout the day. Think of your children how they anticipated the opening up of presents at Christmas time. The reason they had presents was because you wanted to bless them. You didn’t think of all the times during the course of the year that they had let you down, no they are your children and you wanted to bless them.

Well we are God’s children and he wants to bless us:)

Matthew 5:3–11 (NLT) — 3 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. 4 God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth. 6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. 7 God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. 9 God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. 10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. 11 “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
