Deuteronomy 31:16 (NLT) — 16 The Lord said to Moses, “You are about to die and join your ancestors. After you are gone, these people will begin to worship foreign gods, the gods of the land where they are going. They will abandon me and break my covenant that I have made with them.

God knows everything, nothing takes him by surprise. And even though he knew that we all would turn our backs on him yet in His grace and mercy he gave us Jesus! I mean seriously that is some kind of compassion. If we knew ahead of time some of the things our kids would be involved in we probably would lock them up and as they say, “Throw away the key.” But not God, instead he washed us clean with the blood of Jesus and set us free so that we might worship Him. He does break every chain. We never will fully understand the thoughts and ways of God will we? The best we can do is obey even when we don’t understand. Why questions are always asked by children but wise adults just obey. > Psalm 119:100 (NLT) — 100 I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments.Psalm 119:109 (NLT) — 109 My life constantly hangs in the balance, but I will not stop obeying your instructions.

Deuteronomy 31:22 (NLT) — 22 So that very day Moses wrote down the words of the song and taught it to the Israelites.

I believe this is what made Moses so successful. When God told him to do something he got on it without delay. Could this be the key to a successful Christian life; hear the voice of God an obey right away.

Deuteronomy 31:19 (NLT) — 19 “So write down the words of this song, and teach it to the people of Israel. Help them learn it, so it may serve as a witness for me against them.

I had to chuckle when I read this verse. Moses wrote the first five books of the Old Testament and God says, “Hey I’m going to give you a song that the people will remember me.” Maybe I should sing my messages:)
