Matthew 12:46–50 (NLT) — 46 As Jesus was speaking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. 47 Someone told Jesus, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, and they want to speak to you.” 48 Jesus asked, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 49 Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. 50 Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!”

These verses remind me of two miracles that Jesus did that no one else can do and these miracles put a huge smile on my face and abundant peace in my heart. Jesus chose his family! None of us were able to do that. And Jesus chose a family where his parents didn’t always understand him and they weren’t well-to-do. He had to work for a living and his siblings would not be all that enamored with him. In fact it took a long time for them to come around to believe that he really was the Son of God. He didn’t use his right as God to choose the “perfect family”. He came into this world just like you and me. He faced all of the difficulties with family that we face.

Ah but here is the other miracle that Jesus did that absolutely thrills my heart > Before the world began he chose me and you to be included in his family because he wanted us to live with him for all of eternity! Pretty cool right? Makes my day how ’bout yours?
