Acts 10:44 (NLT) — 44 Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message.

I am the type of guy who is task oriented so when I am working on something I do not like to be interrupted. I would rather not stop to talk even though the person might be a friend. If I am going through my work out routine at Anytime Fitness I don’t like it when people want to engage me in conversation. I want to complete what I came there today in the time that I allotted.

I need to be more like Peter. He allowed himself to be interrupted by the Lord on the roof of the house when he was sitting down to take nap before dinner was being served. God used the interruption to teach Peter an important lesson on racism. (all foods and all people are made clean by God) Right after the lesson before he really even had a chance to contemplate what God was teaching him he was interrupted again(by God’s design) by three visitors. In fact it would interrupt his plans for the next few days.

Then when he got to Cornelius’ house and was speaking he was again interrupted by God and everyone got saved and baptized by the Holy Spirit. I wonder how many times I have missed a God given opportunity because I wouldn’t allow myself to be interrupted? You?

I believe that a good prayer to pray at the start of a new day is, “God you have permission to interrupt my schedule anytime you want. Perhaps that is just the open door God is looking for to help use you to bring someone to Jesus, or give a helping hand or a word of encouragement. God is the Great Interrupter just ask Noah, Jacob, Moses, Jonah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Mary mother of Jessu, the disciples, the Apostle Paul etc; let Him do his job. You will be blessed and so will the other person or persons. Aren’t you a child of God today because you let your life be interrupted by the Lord calling you to Himself?
