Joshua 5:13–14 (NLT) — 13 When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, “Are you friend or foe?” 14 “Neither one,” he replied. “I am the commander of the Lord’s army.” At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. “I am at your command,” Joshua said. “What do you want your servant to do?”

The question is not whose side God is on. The question should be whose side am I on. Like Joshua we should fall on our faces and declare our allegiance to the Lord and ask what He wants us to do.

Joshua 5:15 (NLT) — 15 The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did as he was told.

In answer to Joshua’s question of, “What do you want me to do?” The Lord basically said that Joshua’s feet along with his whole body belonged to the Lord and he wanted Joshua to trust him, walk carefully before him in obedience, stand in awe of him and then where ever he would go to exhibit holiness. If he would do that the Lord would always go ahead of him and defeat his enemies > see Joshua 6:2-5

Remember yesterday what Jesus said identified us as family?

Matthew 12:48–50 (NLT) — 48 Jesus asked, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 49 Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. 50 Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!”

Robert Williams was recently drafted out of college to play basketball for the Boston Celtics. He has already missed the first two team meetings. Once he overslept and the other he missed the plane. He is off to a rocky start because the Celtic family of players are known for their punctuality and their high energy for playing the game. Robert clearly is not upholding the family name. As an avid Celtic’s fan I will be watching this story unfold.

As God’s family we are to  uphold the family name by walking in holiness and using every part of our bodies to honor the Lord. To those who are watching how is our story unfolding?
