After you read 2 Kings 7 stand up and praise the Lord because he always watches over his word to perform it! Now lets move on to Psalm 119.

Psalm 119:25 (NLT) — 25 I lie in the dust; revive me by your word.

Gravity always pulls down. Doing your own thing and going your own way will always pull you down. God’s Word pulls us up. The farther you get away from the world’s way of thinking and doing the less the gravitational pull. This is true both physically and spiritually.

Psalm 119:26 (NLT) — 26 I told you my plans, and you answered. Now teach me your decrees.

When your plans don’t line up with God’s plans are you willing to be teachable and change your plans? Humble people are teachable, proud people are not.

Psalm 119:27 (NLT) — 27 Help me understand the meaning of your commandments, and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds.

Most people don’t like the Ten Commandments and they don’t want to understand them because they realize that the commandments means there is a Commander and it isn’t them. They want to be the Commander.

Psalm 119:28 (NLT) — 28 I weep with sorrow; encourage me by your word.

Okay so here are a couple of encouraging verses > Isaiah 42:3 (NLT) — 3 He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. He will bring justice to all who have been wronged. 1 John 1:9 (NLT) — 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Our mistakes are not fatal. With God there is always forgiveness.

Psalm 119:29 (NLT) — 29 Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions.

The best way that I know to keep from lying to yourself is to know what God’s word says and then repeat it back to yourself.

Psalm 119:30 (NLT) — 30 I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations.

Nobody drifts into a godly lifestyle. The current of life will always take you in the wrong direction. Sin is easy. It takes very little effort to do wrong. A godly lifestyle must be a desire, a goal, a target that is aimed at. I keep the word of God before me like road signs or signs in a race that keep me on course.

Psalm 119:31 (NLT) — 31 I cling to your laws. Lord, don’t let me be put to shame!

Like a drowning person clings to the life preserver that is thrown to her or like lint clings to a wool suit; hold on tightly to the Word of God even when it seems like you are drowning. One of my college teachers said, “If Jesus Christ is a sinking ship I am going down with Him.” That is the attitude we need to take.

Psalm 119:32 (NLT) — 32 I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding.

I understand that this life is just a dress rehearsal for the next life. Doing well here means doing well for an eternity.

Be Inspired Hilltop!

P.S. How ’bout one more cheer for our God who always watches over His word to perform it:)

Jeremiah 1:12 (NASB95) — 12 Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it.”
