Luke 2:51–52 (NLT) — 51 Then he returned to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. And his mother stored all these things in her heart. 52 Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.

When I think of fruit in the bible I usually think of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. But here in Jesus we see the fruit produced from ‘submission’. As Jesus was obedient to his parents he grew in both spirit and body(he became wise and strong), he pleased God and people liked him. Wow! to be wise, strong, please God and to be liked by people is some pretty good fruit. It causes me to think of other areas where fruit could grow from submission.

Just think of how much a marriage could produce the fruit of harmony, joy, love and trust just by a husband being in submission to Jesus and a wife being in submission to her husband. (See Ephesians 5:22-23)

Think of the fruit that could blossom in a society just like in a marriage where people submitted to one another out of reverence for Christ.(See Ephesians 5:21)

Can you imagine the fruitful flavor of respect in our schools if our children were submitted to their parents. (See Ephesians 6:1-3)

People would consider the church to taste good if it would submit to Christ. (See Ephesians 5:24)

Because of the fruit of submission, obedience to the laws, our prison’s would be barren. (See 1 Peter 2:13)

The work place would change drastically with the fruit of submission blooming. (See 1 Peter 2:18)

World peace is the fruit of being submitted to God. (See Job 22:21)

Where in your life does the fruit of submission need to grow?
