With the mid-term elections fast approaching on this coming Tuesday I found Psalm 125 a good psalm to pray.

Psalm 125 (NLT) — A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem. 1 Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever. 2 Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever. 3 The wicked will not rule the land of the godly, for then the godly might be tempted to do wrong. 4 O Lord, do good to those who are good, whose hearts are in tune with you. 5 But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O Lord. Take them away with those who do evil. May Israel have peace!

We certainly are pilgrims just passing through on our way to heaven but while we are passing through we have an obligation to pray for our nation and be lights in this dark world.

vs:1 Father I pray that those running for office that have placed their faith in you that they will be secure in their faith and that they will not be defeated in their bid for to be put in office. And I pray that they will leave a godly legacy that will continue on for many generations till Jesus comes back. I also pray the that those who are pro family, pro life and pro religious freedom will also gain victory on Tuesday.

Vs:2 Father I pray that you would surround your people and protect them and their families from the lies and character assassination of the enemy. May they come through unscathed.

Vs:3 Father I ask that the wicked will not be allowed to rule in America and tempt us to do wrong. Father I pray that Americans would be able to see clearly the truth about each candidate and that the lies would be exposed. Father we claim this land of America for you in the name of Jesus.

Vs:4 Father I pray that you will raise up political leaders whose hearts are on the same wave length as yours and I pray that you will seat them in office. And Father once they are in office that you will help them to successfully make the changes needed that would advance your ways in our land.

Vs:5 Father I pray that you will remove the wicked from office and not allow them to have influence in our government. Father I pray for all Americans that they will be drawn into a relationship with you. That they will turn from their sins, turn to you and believe in Jesus Christ. Father may America have peace.
