Luke 11:27 (NLT) — 27 As he was speaking, a woman in the crowd called out, “God bless your mother—the womb from which you came, and the breasts that nursed you!”

Would people want to bless your parents for the way you turned out or would they be inclined to say that those people should never have been allowed to have children. Be honest now, hasn’t the thought crossed your mind when you see how some people live life that their parents shouldn’t have been allow to multiply:) I believe this was a compliment for Jesus that he had turned out alright because of the way his mother raised him. Would that we could compliment all children in this manner.

Have you ever been given a gift, say a picture, knick- knack, or figurine, from a friend or family member? This kind of gift is to be displayed. However you didn’t really like the gift. It didn’t go with anything in your house in fact if truth be told you would rather give it to Pastor Dan so he could take it out to the gun range and use it for target practice! But you knew the gift giver would one day come to your unexpected and would want to see where you displayed the gift, so you reluctantly hung it on the wall or put it on a shelf.

Luke 11:28 (NLT) — 28 Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”

Most homes have a bible, the Word of God. Where are you going to put the word of God? You can put it out of your life completely. You could use if for target practice. You can put it on the shelf with all your other books. You can put it on your coffee table. You can put it on the nightstand by your bed. You can put it in your car or truck. You can put it on hold for a later day. Or you can put it into practice immediately and begin to receive the blessings of the Lord. So again where are you are you going to put the word of God?

Luke 11:30 (NLT) — 30 What happened to him was a sign to the people of Nineveh that God had sent him. What happens to the Son of Man will be a sign to these people that he was sent by God.

Jesus brings substance to the story of Jonah and the big fish. God sent the big fish to swallow up Jonah and God sent Jesus to swallow up our sins.

Perhaps there were people on the beach at the time that the whale spit out Jonah. They saw it happen which I am sure amazed them and then they heard his message and concluded that God had sent him. That sign was all the proof that they needed that the message was from God for them. Jesus’ death and resurrection is all the proof that we need that Jesus was sent by God with a message for us.
