2 Kings 19:1 (NLT) — 1 When King Hezekiah heard their report, he tore his clothes and put on burlap and went into the Temple of the Lord.

Don’t let the enemy keep you from worshipping with the rest of the body of Christ. Hezekiah could have given up but instead he chose to be prayed up.

2 Kings 19:25 (NLT) — 25 “But have you not heard? I decided this long ago. Long ago I planned it, and now I am making it happen. I planned for you to crush fortified cities into heaps of rubble.

We are voting today but God is sovereign. This is His world and we should never forget it. God raises nations and brings them down. But we still have a responsibility to vote.

2 Kings 19:26 (NLT) — 26 That is why their people have so little power and are so frightened and confused. They are as weak as grass, as easily trampled as tender green shoots. They are like grass sprouting on a housetop, scorched before it can grow lush and tall.

Power is the Lords and He gives and takes away as He sees fit.

2 Kings 19:31 (NLT) — 31 For a remnant of my people will spread out from Jerusalem, a group of survivors from Mount Zion. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!

Never forget that our God is passionately committed to His people!

Hosea 12:4 (NLT) — 4 Yes, he wrestled with the angel and won. He wept and pleaded for a blessing from him. There at Bethel he met God face to face, and God spoke to him—

Jacob won because he lost. He would now walk humbly before God in obedience to God. His weeping indicates that he was broken before the Lord. He would no longer be a deceiver. He would no longer depend on his own cunning wit; he would now depend on the Lord. We win when we are totally dependent on the Lord. He quit fighting God and started following him.

These following verses are so fitting for this season of Thanksgiving.

Psalm 136:23–26 (NLT) — 23 He remembered us in our weakness. His faithful love endures forever. 24 He saved us from our enemies. His faithful love endures forever. 25 He gives food to every living thing. His faithful love endures forever. 26 Give thanks to the God of heaven. His faithful love endures forever.

God loves us. God remembers us. God saves us. God feeds us. All that he requires, and if you read this whole psalm you know it is true, is that we give Him thanks.
