Luke 24:17–18 (NLT) — 17 He asked them, “What are you discussing so intently as you walk along?” They stopped short, sadness written across their faces. 18 Then one of them, Cleopas, replied, “You must be the only person in Jerusalem who hasn’t heard about all the things that have happened there the last few days.”

So in the weeks leading up to Christmas what were most Americans looking into and discussing so intently? Well I believe it was all the ads that came out in the newspapers and on the internet regarding the deals that could be had on Black Friday and Cyber Monday and soon to be the Twelve Days before Christmas. Some people even design and map out a plan of attack on how they are going to go about securing the deal that they want. There are time limits on certain deals and even hourly limits on some so you want to be sure to get there at the right time.

So what if we were so intently focused on Jesus and had a plan on how we were going to get to know Him more this Christmas season that when people were talking about Black Friday and the deals to be had that when they looked at us we had this “I don’t know what you are talking about” look on our faces. And that the look was so evident that they said, ““You must be the only people in America who haven’t heard about all the good deals that are going to be happening here in the next few days.”

Just saying:) I was reminded of the words in the last stanza of Fanny J. Crosby’s song: Redeemed >

I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long:
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.

Chorus: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.
