“Your hired”. “Your fired”. “I’m sorry but we did all we could”. “Will you marry me?” “Yes”. “It’s a boy”! “The tests came back and the tumor is malignant”. “You just won the lottery”! “The hurricane made an unbelievable turn back out into the ocean!” “They have accepted your offer, the house is yours.” “No your mother was not on flight 685 that went down near Denver.”  “I don’t love you anymore.” Words make such a difference in our lives don’t they?

However no words have made more of a difference in the lives of human beings from the beginning of time than these ten words spoken by Jesus:

John 14:31 (NLT) — 31 but I will do what the Father requires of me,

The only reason we are celebrating Christmas is because of those words. The only reason we celebrate Easter are because of those words. The only reason our sins are forgiven are because of those words. We still have hope in this world because of those words. Death isn’t the end because of those words. We have the Holy Spirit because of those words. We have the Church because of those words. We have the Bible because of those words. We have God as our father because of those words. We have love in our hearts because of those words. We have the Good Shepherd because of those words. We have fellowship with God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit because of those words.

Hebrews 10:7 (NLT) — 7 Then I said, ‘Look, I have come to do your will, O God— as is written about me in the Scriptures.’ ”

John 4:34 (NLT) — 34 Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.

John 5:30 (NLT) — 30 I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will.

John 6:38 (NLT) — 38 For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will.

John 8:42 (NLT) — 42 Jesus told them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, because I have come to you from God. I am not here on my own, but he sent me.

Words, they really do make a difference in our lives don’t they? Merry Christmas:)
