Proverbs 26:6 (NLT) — 6 Trusting a fool to convey a message is like cutting off one’s feet or drinking poison!

Trusting  a fool to correctly convey your message is like believing you’re going to be able to walk after cutting off your feet or believing you’re still going to be alive after drinking poison. No person is a fool who trusts in Jesus. Our heavenly Father has entrusted us with the message of the Gospel > the good news that Jesus forgives, Jesus loves, Jesus does not condemn and Jesus saves. How accurately are we conveying that message both in word and deed?

Proverbs 26:7 (NLT) — 7 A proverb in the mouth of a fool is as useless as a paralyzed leg.

The legs of a lame man are useless. A proverb is useless to a fool because he can’t understand it or put it into practice. And that is why Paul said, But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.” (I Corinthians 2:14)

It is like the proverb many people quote thinking they are quoting the bible > God helps those who help themselves, is not in the bible and it is not even biblical.  So they only hurt themselves is they follow it. God actually helps those who humble themselves. > 1 Peter 5:6 (NLT) — 6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.

Proverbs 26:8 (NLT) — 8 Honoring a fool is as foolish as tying a stone to a slingshot.

Tying the stone in a sling makes it ineffective and one could get hurt by trying to hurl it and having the sling swing and hit the person. Seriously what is the point of tying stone in a slingshot? Giving honor to a fool is ineffective if one thinks that will cause the fool to change his ways and become wise. Seriously what is the point of honoring a fool?
Example: Hitler received honor and it was damaging for the rest of the world. Seriously what was the point of honoring Hitler with the top spot in German? It was Hitler who said, “Everything else is secondary to killing Jewish babies.”

Proverbs 26:9 (NLT) — 9 A proverb in the mouth of a fool is like a thorny branch brandished by a drunk.

The thorns on the bush are probably cutting the drunkards hand but he is to numb with alcohol to feel it. He thinks he has a weapon to hurt others and instead it is hurting him. He may repeat a proverb that he has heard and think he is wise. However the proverb, if he understood it, is probably exposing him as a fool but he is too foolish to know it.

Example: You could teach a parrot to say, “I’m a stupid bird.” The parrot can say the words but it doesn’t get it. The same with a fool. A modern day example of this is the group for no borders. But they want to set up sanctuary states where illegal aliens can go and find safety from the law. But how would they no if they were in a sanctuary state if there were no borders? Do you see how foolish they are?

Proverbs 26:10 (NLT) — 10 An employer who hires a fool or a bystander is like an archer who shoots at random.

How long would a business last if they hired people that had no skills for the business? An employer, like and archer needs a target, he needs to target people that would benefit the business and help it grow and flourish. There has to be a good vetting process for the business to be successful.

Proverbs 26:11 (NLT) — 11 As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness.

No matter how many times a fool is warned he will not listen. Like a dog who feels better after he vomits a person can say a prayer of repentance and feel good for the moment but then when things don’t go their way they give up on God and go back to the way they used to live, just like a dog going back to his vomit. Isn’t it interesting that the bible likens foolish deeds to vomit. Now you know how God feels about foolish deeds. Would that we would be as repulsed by foolish deeds a we are by vomit.
