Psalm 145:14–17 (NLT) — 14 The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads. 15 The eyes of all look to you in hope; you give them their food as they need it. 16 When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing. 17 The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness.

If the Lord is truly filled with kindness and if it is true that His Holy Spirit lives in us; then it must be true that we are filled with kindness. Why don’t we designate today as ‘Kindness Friday’ and give away the kindness that we are full of?

Do you know anyone who is discouraged or depressed or just overcome by the burdens of life? (Vs:14) What act of kindness could you do for them? Do you know someone who needs a dose of hope, who needs to know that someone cares? (Vs:15) How can you kindly encourage them? Do you know someone that could use a meal or some other provision? (Vs:15) Could you kindly supply that need?

I believe that all people from time to time hunger and thirst for an experience of kindness. Would you be willing to open your hand and satisfy that thirst? (Vs:16)

Tell the Father that you are willing to be kind and then ask Him to have the Holy Spirit direct you to those who need to experience the kindness of God. Perhaps you could fill someone’s tank with gas. Or pay for a person’s meal in a restauraunt. Or pay for a person’s purchase in the grocery store, Goodwill, or Walmart. Or help rake a lawn for spring clean up. Could you text a message of hope or encouragement? Or buy a little gift that says, “You are special to me”. These examples came to mind because I live with a woman who has done every one of these except the tank of gas in the last few weeks!

Romans 2:4 (NLT) — 4 Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?

Romans 2:4 (GW) — 4 Do you have contempt for God, who is very kind to you, puts up with you, and deals patiently with you? Don’t you realize that it is God’s kindness that is trying to lead you to him and change the way you think and act?

Romans 2:4 (NCV) — 4 He has been very kind and patient, waiting for you to change, but you think nothing of his kindness. Perhaps you do not understand that God is kind to you so you will change your hearts and lives.

Romans 2:4 (ESV) — 4 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

The thing about kindness is that it not only blesses the the recipient of the act of kindness but it blesses the giver. The more kindness we show the more our relationship with the One who is always kind to us grows. (Vs 17) I want to be like Him….always filled with kindness.

Thank you again , Pastor Dan for these Psalms the past week.
